Better Cakes Font for Modern Web Design

I was working on a boutique online store for a local bakery when I needed a font that felt both elegant and approachable. The client wanted something that would stand out in their hero section but still be readable across devices. That’s when I came across Better Cakes – a handwritten script font from Script Amp that immediately caught my eye.

Better Cakes has a soft, flowing style with subtle variations in stroke weight and letterforms that mimic natural handwriting. It feels warm and personal, yet refined enough to work in professional branding. I tested it in the hero headline of the site, placing it over a full-width image of a beautifully decorated cake. The result was inviting and visually balanced, without overwhelming the background.

One of the first things I noticed was how well Better Cakes handled mobile layouts. On smaller screens, the script didn’t feel too intricate or hard to read. It maintained its elegance while staying legible, which is crucial for user experience. I made sure to pair it with a clean sans serif font for body copy, like Montserrat, to keep the hierarchy clear and avoid visual clutter.

For the product landing pages, I used Better Cakes as the main title font. It worked especially well for section headings and call-to-action buttons, adding a touch of personality to otherwise standard design elements. The font also looked great in the logo design, giving the brand a unique identity that stood apart from competitors.

When designing the blog section, I experimented with using Better Cakes for post titles and featured headers. It added a creative flair that aligned with the bakery’s aesthetic. However, I avoided using it for long paragraphs or small text sizes, as script fonts can be challenging for extended reading. Instead, I reserved it for decorative accents and short phrases where visual impact mattered more than readability.

Another thing I considered was the file formats and webfont availability. Since Better Cakes is a premium font from Script Amp, I checked that it included all necessary styles and weights for the project. It had good support for different languages and characters, which was important since the bakery occasionally featured international customers.

I also thought about font pairing. Using a display font like Better Cakes with a simple sans serif font for body copy created a nice contrast. This combination helped guide the reader’s eye through the content, reinforcing the brand’s visual identity while keeping the layout modern and easy to scan.

On the course sales page I designed later, I used Better Cakes again for headlines and promotional banners. It gave the page a friendly, engaging tone that resonated with potential students. I made sure to test it against dark and light backgrounds to ensure it remained visible and stylish in every context.

What I appreciate most about Better Cakes is its versatility. Whether it's used for a digital brand kit, campaign landing page, or social media graphics, it adds a level of sophistication that elevates the overall design. It's not just a font; it's a design asset that contributes to the emotional appeal and professionalism of a website.

As I continued refining the site, I kept coming back to Better Cakes for its ability to blend creativity with functionality. It’s a script font that doesn’t sacrifice usability for style, making it an excellent choice for any designer looking to enhance their brand’s visual storytelling without compromising on performance or readability.

If you're considering a script font for your next project, I’d recommend testing Better Cakes in real-world scenarios. See how it behaves in responsive layouts, how it pairs with other typefaces, and whether it aligns with your brand’s voice. It might just become your go-to font for those moments when you need a little more elegance in your design.
